I am doing a free Zoom webinar on February 6, 2023 using EFT to support healing from eating disorders. I had anorexia when I was younger (in my teenage years). I was hospitalized twice (once when I was in grade seven and once when I was in grade nine). I realize now that I am a highly sensitive person and that my anxiety fueled my addiction as a young person. I know Emotional Freedom Technique is easy to learn and is effective for treating anxiety. I have managed my anxiety using EFT as well as other things like magnesium and l-theanine. Addictions are a grave problem in our world to manage and EFT is a simple tool that can be learned and applied when you are working to overcome an addiction. My hope is that people with eating disorders will find it helpful in their recovery process. I wanted to mention an excellent book to that talks about anorexia. It is called “The Complete Dictionary of Ailments and Diseases” by Jacques Martel. The section on Anorexia nervosa is spot on. It talks about the underlying thoughts, feelings and emotions at the root of illnesses. Jacques writes that Anorexia is characterized by complete rejection of life. It is the unconscious desire to escape from life, to detest and reject myself because I am experiencing an extreme fear of opening myself to the marvelous life around me. I am hoping to write a book in the future and expand on some of these ideas in Jacque Martels book in order to help others struck in the trap of anorexia. I have definitely experienced a lot of fear in my life that I have had to overcome and I am not finished yet. I have not relapsed since I was 21 years old. I hope by working on a book about anorexia that I will continue to help others struggling with it. I hope to work with other patients struggling with eating disorders using my EFT and counseling service which is on special for $99 for the hour at Parallel Wellness clinic in downtown Calgary. The Review Before A New Year Starts
It is useful to review your year before a new year starts. We have had the winter solstice so the days will start to get longer again. This is a positive. We have to look for small victories and positive things to focus on. What we can be grateful for?! Reviewing your year and making a note of what good things happened and where you grew in a positive way. Write these things down and affirm yourself. The world is still coming out of a pandemic so it will take some time to get back to normal. Because I am a naturopathic doctor I am focused on optimizing my health and the health of all my patients. What did you do for your health this past year that was a positive? Before we start the new year, reflect on the good things you did for your health this past year. Maybe you consistently ate more vegetables; maybe you ate more plants and less meat. Maybe you ate less sugar and limited dairy and gluten because you know they upset your system. Focus on what was positive about your health care last year. Be proud of the fact that you exercised consistently last year. How can you improve your health moving forward? I know I need to do more regular yoga and weights. My partner got me 5 pound barbells for me which are a little easier than the 10 pound barbells I have. My plan is to be more consistent with doing weights in my condo. I walk to work and back approximately 4 days a week for about 25 minutes each way. I exercise every day for at least 30 minutes to ensure that I sleep well. I meditate for at least 20 minutes a day. This helps me stay calm and assuages my anxiety. I choose to intermittently fast over night for twelve hours to give my glympathic system time to do its job overnight. The glympathic system cleans out your system overnight and keeps your whole body running smoothly. I am proud of what I have done this year in my commitment to my business. I want to improve my patient numbers this year and so I will reflect on what I have done well this year with an eye on what I can improve on in this next year. I need to drink more water. That is something I can definitely improve this year in terms of my health. Hope everyone had a good holiday. Until I post again, be well and enjoy your loved ones.
Living in Balance with MS
I am really grateful that I can live in balance with MS. I talked to my Mom today and she asked me how I am feeling. I said I am feeling great. I am in stable remission and it is because I take such good care of myself. I went for lunch with my sister a couple of weeks ago and I was saying how good it feels to be in stable remission to her. I know how I feel and how much energy I have. I walk to work and back when I have clients. That is 25 minutes each way in the winter with ice and snow to contend with. I have had bad flares in the past so I also know how it feels to be sick. Staying well is much easier when I do a few things. I avoid sugar like the plague. I have a dairy free dark chocolate square for a treat. I know that I must be perfect with my diet to be able to work full time. The other most important factor is that I eat a diet low in saturated fat. I keep my saturated fat under 25 grams/day. Even eating one meal that is higher in saturated fat can set you back so do not cheat with fast food or tempura! I eat a vegan diet that is flexible. If my partner cooks chicken, turkey or clean fish I will eat it. I try to eat as many vegetables as possible (7-8) servings to improve mood! Iexercise every day at least 30 minutes daily and I have added some free weights to my regime to help preserve my bone density. It is harder in the winter months because of the darkness but just know we are approaching winter solstice on December 21/2022 and the light will start to return with a more optimistic outlook accompanying it. Have a great November! I have an Emotional Freedom Technique and counseling special for $99 for the hour. Come in and see me at Parallel Wellness! 4032321283
