My Naturopathic Practice
Each naturopathic doctor has a unique style and it is useful to know more about each particular practice to see if you will resonate or not with their approach. In my practice, I use a wide range of modalities to treat patients including biotherapeutic drainage, herbal medicine, homeopathy, therapeutic supplements, and nutrition.
I do not administer injections or offer iv medications to patients but will refer out for that when I feel it would be beneficial for the patient. I do laboratory testing when appropriate.
I rely on my intuition as well to direct me in my practice and can often discern what would help my patients most just by spending an hour hearing their stories. I do a lot of ‘spirit-centered’ counseling in my practice and consider it a strength of mine. I view illness as a key to transformation. I help patients uncover the root causes of why they are unwell so that their healing process can be a journey of self-discovery and personal empowerment.
Mind/body medicine is an element of my unique practice. I did Mind/Body professional training in 2006 in California to better serve my patients. The field of mind/body medicine views illness as an opportunity for personal growth and transformation. It focuses on the interactions among the mind, body, and spirit and the powerful ways in which emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and behavioral factors can directly affect health.
It is a process that respects and enhances each person’s capacity for self-knowledge and self-care and it emphasizes techniques that are grounded in this approach. Meditation, guided imagery, visualization, and biofeedback are some of the modalities of mind/body medicine that I have found most useful in working with patients.
Practicing these modalities consistently can help improve all aspects of health and help reduce the harmful effects of chronic stress. Mind/body medicine may be particularly helpful adjunct care for people suffering from high blood pressure, chronic pain, migraine headaches, cancer, and autoimmune disease.
In the midst of every health crisis, the potential also exists for deep healing. Mind/body medicine helps you tap into this potential for deep healing and helps you feel more empowered in dealing with any situation in your life that challenges you.
