I am excited to let you know that I will be releasing my ebook hopefully this month on healing from anorexia. I waited a long time to write this book. I was hospitalized when I was in grade seven and when I was in grade nine with anorexia nervosa. My love of sports got me past anorexia when I was in hiigh school. When you can change your focus to something positive and get it off of your addictive tendencies it can really help with overcoming an eating disorder. In my ebook I talk about some of the catalaysts for anorexia- the peer problems I experienced when I was growing up, the anxiety I suffered from, my high sensitivity level to my environment, and my lack of self worth and self esteem. My book focuses on how taking the journey to know yourself, love and accept yourself can get you on a healing path of recovery. Elements that were involved with my recovery included being mindful and really expressing my feeling when I felt hurt by others. I had to identify belief system that were operating when I had anorexia. A big one was ‘I do not have to punish myself for not being perfect by not meeting my physical needs of nourishment.’ Perfectionism is a challenge to get past in anorexia, I write a whole chapter on perfectionism and anorexia in my ebook. Loving and accepting all parts of yourself is imperative if you suffer from anorexia. Through that journey of love for yourself you will find yourself healing and moving forward. You are meant to shine in your life. You are worthy of everything that you are wanting in your life. You just have to believe it. I will let you know when you can buy my ebook on my website. I am really proud of this book that I have written. Much love, Dr. Robin Vinge If you want to work with me go to www.robinvinge.com then click on contact to be led to my Jane booking site. Osteoporosis (Part 3)
I wanted to add a few more notes on help for osteoporosis. These are summit notes from the Osteoporosis Summit in 2022. Bone Density Test 0-1 is normal; -1–2.5= osteopenia; lower than -2.5 =osteoporosis. Margie Bissinger wrote Happy Bones which is a good resource. Bone Fit in Canada by Dr. Sherri Betz (drsherribetz.com for safe yoga/pilates). 10 reps is appropriate if you are working something hard. Ntx ctx bone markers are good showing if you are actively losing bone you can test frequently. Peak bone is at age 30. Trabecular bone score is density plus density plus bone quality. If you have Dexa done ask for this. You need to do balance exercises and resistance exercises Project healthy Bones.
If you have Osteoporosis avoid forward bending with yoga. Avoid extreme postures like extreme/rotation postures or extreme side bending.
Do Tai Chi- balance exercises, balance on one leg. Gently go up and down on toes and heels. Gentle jumping pump pump. Use bands walk sideways. Do squats for hips. Getting up out of a chair. Gentle lunges. Walking sideways. Strontium is a heavy element so artificially elevates bone density so caution interpreting bone density results if you are on it. Calcium in food first. Aim for 1500 mg max.
K2 (MK 4 from animal products shows fx reduction 45 mg bid and MK7-from natt0 180 mcg bid)- puts calcium in bones- take separately from calcium and magnesium. K1 from green leafy vegetables helps with flexibility of bones.
Magnesium is important for bone health. You can soak your feet in transdermal Magnesium.
90% of people have low stomach acid and that is required to absorb calcium. Citrate and microcrystalline hydroxyapatite calcium are the best sources. I also like AlgaeCal as a supplement for osteoporosis support. To discuss this topic further, please reach out to me.

Fear of Osteoporosis (Part 2)
I will continue my post on a fear of osteoporosis. I am at significant risk of developing osteoporosis because I had anorexia when I was young, I have a strong family history of osteoporosis and I am now post-menopausal. According to The Complete Dictionary of Ailments and Diseases osteoporosis involves the bones, so consider what are your basic structures and beliefs. As you can’t have children any longer, you can still be just as useful and productive not for procreation but in other personal, social or professional areas. Contemplating how you can be of service in your life in these areas is important.
I must overcome the tendency to depreciate myself, believing I am good for nothing.
I accept to change my way of looking at things and to develop tolerance towards myself. I look at all my fine achievements. I accept having reached a new stage in life and being able to change the structures that controlled me all my life. I look to the future. I analyze what I really like to do and I undertake new projects. I overcome my timidity. I must trust in life and find new sources of motivation, I am now the master of my own life.
I have found doing weights 3 x/week helpful to build bone density (for about 30 minutes). Algae Cal posts some great videos using hand held barbells (5-10 pounds). I have also found pilates to be helpful for building strength in my physical body. I do Pilates for 20 minutes three times weekly. Free videos can be found on Youtube. I like Pilates for Posture on Youtube.
