I will continue my post on a fear of osteoporosis. I am at significant risk of developing osteoporosis because I had anorexia when I was young, I have a strong family history of osteoporosis and I am now post-menopausal. According to The Complete Dictionary of Ailments and Diseases osteoporosis involves the bones, so consider what are your basic structures and beliefs. As you can’t have children any longer, you can still be just as useful and productive not for procreation but in other personal, social or professional areas. Contemplating how you can be of service in your life in these areas is important.
I must overcome the tendency to depreciate myself, believing I am good for nothing.
I accept to change my way of looking at things and to develop tolerance towards myself. I look at all my fine achievements. I accept having reached a new stage in life and being able to change the structures that controlled me all my life. I look to the future. I analyze what I really like to do and I undertake new projects. I overcome my timidity. I must trust in life and find new sources of motivation, I am now the master of my own life.
I have found doing weights 3 x/week helpful to build bone density (for about 30 minutes). Algae Cal posts some great videos using hand held barbells (5-10 pounds). I have also found pilates to be helpful for building strength in my physical body. I do Pilates for 20 minutes three times weekly. Free videos can be found on Youtube. I like Pilates for Posture on Youtube.
