It is January 2014- a new year- a time for renewal, recalibration, and reflection. I read a fantastic book (three times) over my holiday and I wanted to share it with all of you. It is called Outrageous Openness>>Letting the Divine Take the Lead by Tosha Silver. I love this book because it is easy to read, funny and illustrates beautifully how magical life really is. She has countless stories that show how interconnected life is and how guidance is always available to all who ask of it. You do not have to be a spiritual seeker to see this operate in your own life. It is always available to you. You just have to open your eyes, open your ears and pay attention to the matrix in which you live…
I definitely have magical moments of guidance in my life that illustrate to me that there is a divine force protecting and guiding me throughout my life. The trick is to actually follow it all the time and trust in that guidance that shows up or comes through to you. A good example of this is many years ago I was driving to spend a weekend with a love interest of mine at the time. It was a new relationship and I was very intrigued and curious about the possibilities moving forward for us both. At that time I did not pay close attention to the signs in my life. I was very much letting free will take the wheel all the time instead of divine will. That free will can often lead you off course…
I had to drive on the Trans-Canada highway to get there and it would take me some time. About 2 hours into the drive I got a flat tire. I had never had a flat tire before. It was a busy highway and I was not in walking distance to a city. I thought I would set out on foot anyways towards the next town. I did not have a cell phone at that time but did trust that I would be okay. Within 15 minutes someone had stopped to talk to me along this busy highway and offered to help me because they had seen my car with a flat tire on the highway. Unbelievable! This person that approached me was a German tourist on his own but I checked in with myself and it felt okay to trust him. He was able to put my spare tire on my car so I was able to get to the next gas station and have it repaired.
I am a very well thought out person. You never expect to have a flat tire on a mini-road trip. But this illustrates how protection is there for you. When it happened, I did not know what to do. I had to rely on my intuition and trust that help would come and it came within 15 minutes. I do find that my trust is very strong when I cannot be in control;a lack of control makes you have to trust in some ways. They say hindsight is 20/20. The flat tire was a sign to have caution and slow down the speed of the relationship or even abort going there in the first place. I did not listen to signs back then but now I do…I pay attention to signs…It does not mean that I am not free of fear and always trust that the signs are correct that show up for me. If I am confused, I will ask over and over for a sign of confirmation and it will come through to me. I am still human after all but this is the year that I want to let the divine take the lead.
When you open yourself up to guidance and help from outside sources there is more of a sense of protection and peace. The world becomes much more alive to you. You start to pay attention to everything >> the songs on the radio (what are the lyrics?- do they resonate with what is happening in your life or is there guidance in the song?), do people ever drops words in conversation and say something that gives an answer to whatever you were asking about or do you overhear a conversation on the bus that speaks to you? Spirit works through people to help you. Something you read with your eyes can be a sign for you- a van that drives by you when you are walking, a license plate on a car that cuts in front of you, a green light or a red light, something that is on the tv or a movie, animals that show up in your life, a piece of paper on the side of the road where you have parked your car- the universe is always talking to you and trying to guide you to your best place in life- start to listen to it.
Our ego likes to be in control but life would become so much more magical and powerful if we all let the divine take the lead in our lives. I always ask to be used as a conduit for the highest good. Please let me be of service in the world- to bring light and healing and love to others. God please use me…XOXOXO
